What Does Gardener Mean? mes Years ago Charles would decline to claim ownership over any part of his garden because he believed he couldn’t properly be called a gardener; seemingly giving this term immense status.
Recently, one of my friends sent me a card featuring this image on it.
As I stare into this picture of a gardener, I realise I should recognize myself within it; after all it depicts an idealized image from Oxford Languages’ online definition:
Gardeners tend and cultivate gardens as either a hobby or profession.
Your new pastime may just be calling your wife ‘her indoors’!
As you look upon this cheerful image, you may be left questioning your place in society and might consider becoming a horticulturist instead of being just another gardener.
An expert or student in garden cultivation and management.
She was an experienced horticulturist who could make any garden flourish.
Are you feeling better now? I appreciate how you differentiated between an expert and student; some would argue you remain forever a student in this particular discipline.
Does how the world sees you matter?
Personally, I believe this is one issue we all claim we don’t care about while actually caring very deeply about. Nothing diminishes a status so quickly than admitting you could care about how others see you.
But, if any of us feel that discussing this is within our means, it might be worthwhile considering who amongst our social circle might accept being lumped together as fellow victims?
